CINCINNATI, OH (November 23, 2016) – Michelman’s Dr. Daming Cheng, Technology Group Leader of Michelman’s Coatings business group, will lead two presentations at ChinaCoat 2016 focused on the use of high performance water-based additives in coatings and over print varnishes (OPVs). Surface modifiers and additives are part of Michelman’s broad selection of water-based technologies used by formulators of industrial and architectural coatings. The show is being held November 30 – December 2, 2016 in Guangzhou, China.
The first presentation, Session No. 607, is entitled, “High Performance Water-based Wax Additives in Coatings” and will take place on December 1st at 13:30. Dr. Cheng will discuss the use of wax emulsions as additives in water-based coating systems, against a backdrop of increasingly stringent environmental regulations. Several major water-based waxes and their unique properties will be discussed, and application examples including wood coatings, decorative coatings and floor coatings will be shared.
Dr. Cheng’s second presentation, Session No. 608, is entitled “Rub Resistance and Gloss – Wax Additives in Water-based OPVs” and will also take place on December 1st at 14:30. In this presentation, Dr. Cheng will discuss the use of select Michelman wax emulsions as additives in water-based OPVs. The mechanics behind how wax additives affect performance attributes such as rub resistance, gloss, and COF will be examined.
Michelman will be represented by its long-time partner, Kelly Chemical Corporation, in booth 10.2A01-06.
