Michelman will lead a webinar entitled “Fundamentals of Fiber Sizing and Emerging Trends and Solutions” on November 5th at 2:00 PM EST. Geared for compounders and composites manufacturers, attendees will learn how to choose the right fiber sizing to improve composite performance in a variety of applications.
Mr. Steven Bassetti, Group Marketing Director of the Industrial Manufacturing Group and the webinar leader, explained the purpose of the webinar. “While fiber sizing makes up a small percentage of a composite, it plays a notably significant role in the interface properties between the surface of a fiber and the composite matrix. It is essential to producing high-quality composite parts and components.”
Michelman’s fiber sizing is specifically designed to optimize the interfacial adhesion between the polymers and the fibers by tailoring the surface chemistry of the reinforcement fibers to the chemistry of the matrix resin. The company manufactures a variety of dispersions and emulsions of polymers and waxes used by reinforcement fiber and composite fabric manufacturers as carbon fiber sizing, glass fiber sizing, binders, and lubricants.
