CINCINNATI, OH (December 16, 2011) – Michelman continues to expand its Chemical Specialties team with the addition of three seasoned professionals who boast extensive experience in key markets. The Chemical Specialties group at Michelman develops water-based surface modifiers, additives and polymers for numerous industries including wood and floor care, industrial coatings, inks, paints, and construction products.
Mr. Dave Rupp has come on board as the company’s new Regional Business Development Manager - Chemical Specialties. Mr. Rupp will focus on the western U.S, and have responsibility for growth and development of the company’s extensive line of additives for wood product applications. He will work closely with regional customers to help them achieve their own market objectives.
Mr. Rupp brings 20 years of experience in wood related market segments, including positions with Timber Products - A division of JH Baxter, Arch Chemicals and Georgia Pacific Corporation. Dave holds a Bachelor of Science in Forest Industries Management from The Ohio State University.
Mr. Mike Selby has joined the company as a Regional Sales Manager - Chemical Specialties. Mr. Selby will be responsible for managing Michelman’s Americas Chemical Specialties sales team, in addition to supporting regional customers with application and market expertise.
Mr. Selby has spent 15 years in relevant chemical specialties positions including sales management at International Group, Inc. and Honeywell International, and sales and technical management with Shepherd Chemical Company. Mike holds a Masters of Business Administration and a Bachelor of Science in Chemical Science from Xavier University.
Mr. Chad Forsthoefel has been hired as a Research Chemist and will focus on developing new water-based formulations for Michelman’s burgeoning construction and wood coatings industry segments. In addition to his lab work, he will work closely with customers providing technical support regarding the use of Michelman products.
Mr. Forsthoefel has extensive experience working with emulsion products, fluoropolymers and silicones; performed extensive analytical research on the characterization of plastics and rubber at Akron Rubber Development Laboratory; and worked in the development of adhesives at Three Bond International. He holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Chemistry from Wright State University.
