Michelman's 75th Anniversary Celebration Culminates with Commitment to Community Day

CINCINNATI, OH (October 29, 2024) – Michelman held its 13th Annual Commitment to Community Day on September 13, 2024, as part of the company’s weeklong 75th Anniversary celebration. The company ceased normal operations for the day, enabling more than 400 associates in the US, Belgium, China, France, India, Luxembourg, and Singapore to lend a helping hand to a wide range of charitable and non-profit organizations.

Michelman associates in the US volunteered at several Greater Cincinnati locations including Brighton Center, Easterseals Redwood, Freestore Foodbank, Gorman Heritage Farm, Great Parks of Hamilton County, Hopes Closet, Last Mile Food Rescue, New Life Furniture Bank, Operation Give Back, Stepping Stones Ohio, United Way, and YMCA Camp Ernst. Associates participated in cleaning and painting a family center, clearing brush, landscaping and gardening, painting and staining at a park, assembling weekend lunch kits for kids and laundry packets for families in need, and sorting used clothing for foster children and food donations for hungry families.

Associates from Michelman's  European locations in Aubange, Belgium, and Windhof, Luxembourg volunteered at Athénée Royal d’Arlon, Fondation Kraizbierg, IMP la providence, and Ukrainian World Congress. Volunteers painted at a school, performed groundskeeping at a home for young people with behavioral disorders and a home for adults with disabilities, and prepared food for a charity event.

Michelman associates in China, India, and Singapore volunteered at organizations that included The Earth Saviours Foundation and West Coast Park, lending a helping hand with a non-profit that helps underserved communities, and cleaning up at a park.

“Giving is an essential value for our company, it’s important that we give back to the communities where we live and work. Our associates are always supported and encouraged to share their time and talents with local non-profits on an individual basis, but Commitment to Community Day is a special opportunity for colleagues to work side-by-side to make their communities even better and stronger places to live.”

—Rick Michelman, President and CEO

Since the annual event began in 2011, hundreds of associates have volunteered countless hours in support of so many local non-profits.

Steve Shifman, former President & CEO and creator of the Commitment to Community Day initiative, added, “I am amazed to see how the scope of our volunteer efforts has grown, from a relatively small initiative to a worldwide endeavor. Our associates truly embody Michelman’s value of Giving through their enthusiastic support for this annual day of service.”
