General Summary

The regional Engineering Manager is responsible for the development and execution of the regional capital project plan. This role works closely with the engineering director and the plant manager to prioritize and deliver capital projects in alignment with site requirements and strategic engineering initiatives. You will lead a team of regional project engineers to ensure the safe delivery and execution of capital projects in support of our business.

Primary Responsibilities

• Set an example for the team by demonstrating Michelman Core Values and compliance with all Michelman policies and procedures
• Ensure the team and contract partners demonstrate Michelman Core Values and follow all Michelman policies and procedures
• Coach and develop regional project engineers through the Michelman Workforce Development Process and ensure all reviews are completed on time and employees are engaged
• Develop and maintain capital project portfolio and build the 5 year capital plan in accordance with the regional needs and strategic direction
• Administer Michelman’s capital project management software (Quickbase) for the region
• Maintain key performance indicators for the capital project work in the region and identify opportunities for improvement
• Develop annual capital plan in conjunction with Regional Plant Leadership and Global Engineering Director
• Manage the safe execution of the regional annual capital plan and annual capital budget through the regional project engineering team and contractors
• Set standards for project delivery and execution for the region in accordance with the capital project stage gate process
• Work with Regional Plant Leadership team to align priorities and project support as needed
• Scope conceptual projects and develop initial high spot estimate to be included in project portfolio
• Execute capital projects as needed to ensure delivery of the annual capital plan

• Ability to lead teams of engineers and contractors
• Strong communication skills with the ability to lead and influence at all levels of the organization
• Excellent organizational skills to track and maintain a large project portfolio and individual projects
• Ability to manage competing priorities and drive to the best solution for the business
• Experienced project leader with exposure to various project management methodologies
• Willing to take initiative and constantly striving for improvement
• Able to multi-task in an environment often subject to various demands and need for quick decisions
• Understanding of basic profit and loss concepts associated with the business environment
• Experienced with Microsoft Office Suite, Microsoft Project

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering preferred
• Minimum of seven (7) years of project management experience in chemical manufacturing environment

Work Hours

Standard work hours for this role are Monday – Friday from 7:30 am – 4 pm EST. Flexibility in work hours will be required based on project demand.
